   Glass joints come in two basic styles: female and male. A female joint has an opening that receives another piece, while a male joint has a tapered end that fits inside it. Think of them like a plug and socket. One piece goes in, and the other receives it.

Before buying a bowl, adapter, or attachment, check which joint type your glass piece uses. A male accessory usually fits into a female joint, while a female accessory fits over a male joint. Choosing the correct joint type helps create a secure connection and prevents loose or poorly fitting parts.

    The most common glass joint sizes are 10 mm, 14 mm, and 18 mm. In inches, these are approximately 0.39 inch, 0.55 inch, and 0.71 inch. Even when two joints look similar in a photo, a small size difference can stop them from fitting correctly.

Always match the joint size before ordering a replacement part or accessory. A 10 mm piece fits a 10 mm joint, a 14 mm piece fits a 14 mm joint, and an 18 mm piece fits an 18 mm joint. Measuring carefully can save time, prevent returns, and help you order the correct part the first time.
